For beginners, go for simple, minimalistic and easy-to-maintain gardens. This style of gardens are suitable for modern, contemporary homes and offices and suit ANY interior. Choose natural flowers and plants (or cacti if you're daring) that thrive well in both sun and shade. Natural lighting is the best for natural plants. Fake plants are PERFECT for the forgetful and low-maintenance. Remember to keep prickly or dangerous and irritable plants away from common areas where people sit, walk through or stand by for safety. Even more so if it's a children's play area.
Snake plants are perfect for busy owners as they do not require a lot of attention.

A few plant pots, wooden furniture, fake grass and a fish pond with a fountain can make any garden look more natural and inviting. Can't afford a fish pond? Try a vertical "wall" garden where instead of wood, concrete, stone or metal it's green, green, green and all lush and leafy. That's kinder(-looking) to Mother Nature, too.
